November 2024 First time dining at Full Moon Sushi on a recent trip to San Diego. I arrived around 6 PM on a Friday night and as expected they were very busy. I sat at the sushi bar and ordered a salmon sashimi ($11.00) and a chef's choice sashimi platter which consisted of albacore, yellowtail, salmon, grouper, bluefin tuna ($55.00). I really was not impressed with the quality of the fish on the Chefs platter. I then ordered the Sailor Moon sushi roll ($38.00) that was very good but overpriced at $38! To finish things off, I had the Waxing Gibbous Roll for ($25.00). All in all I really liked it especially the sushi rolls but with tax and tip my bill was $164.00 (no drinks). I've had plenty of sushi at other restaurants that was just as good for half the price. I give it four stars for the food taste and quality and I give it one star for the high prices. Service was average

Sushi rolls had very fresh fish and very delicious. I appreciate how the rolls and everything on the menu were carefully crafted and moon themed to match the branding of the restaurant. Super cool! Service was great. Waitress was nice and had recommendations. Restaurant was very clean and had nice bathrooms. Located in downtown SD so parking is tricky.

Went here for a date and everything was fresh and delicious. I picked this place because there's a Full Moon Sushi in OC I used to go to when I lived there and it was always good; not sure if the two are same owners or just same name but this place was good, too. Anyway, my date and I noticed when walking there was another sushi place on the same block and it was practically empty. Full Moon however was super busy and place was full. We were still seated pretty quickly and served food promptly after ordering. I would return and eat here again.

Our best dinner as a team in San Diego yet. Super fresh sushi along with very attentive service. Made a sushi fan out of my friend who disliked sushi. The ambiance was a bit dark but the environment was fitting and comfortable.

I haven't been to a quality sushi place in so long, so I'm happy that this recommendation hit the spot. Keep in mind the rolls are expensive ($25-40), BUT if you're looking for rolls that are unique and have fresh fish, then look no further. We ordered the third quarter, waxing gibbous, waning gibbous, and another two rolls I can't remember the names of. Every single one of them tasted amazing. I think my favorite was the third quarter, but again you can't really go wrong. Their rolls are light and refreshing, you don't feel heavy or greasy from over-use of sauces on top. And the fish tastes sooo fresh! It's right in downtown, by the house of blues. We got there at opening around 5pm, so there was no wait. You can make a reservation online, but it seems like a good place to just walk-in.
